Pollock leads Mumbai Indians to victory

The Mumbai Indians outsmarted the Delhi Daredevils by 29 runs and registered their second successive win in the IPL Cricket, in the match played at Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy – Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar who was expected to play in this match was ruled out due to his groin injury. Shaun Pollock’s 33 runs off 15 balls and 2 wickets while bowling surely helped the Mumbai Indians in winning this match.

The Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field first. The Mumbai Indians started their Innings thru their openers – Takawale and Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya scored a decent 34 runs off 16 balls (6 boundaries and 1 sixer). The batsmen following him, Thornely and Uthappa scored 30 and 22 runs respectively. Shaun Pollock scored a fast 33 runs off just 15 balls (2 boundaries and 3 sixers). At the end of 20 overs, the Mumbai Indians scored 162 runs for the fall of 8 wickets.

The Delhi Dardevils started their Innings thru their openers – Gambhir and Sehwag. Gambhir was dismissed for a single run and Sehwag scored an excellent knock of 40 runs off 20 balls (3 boundaries and equal sixers). Ab de Villiers, Shoaib Malik and Dinesh Karthik scored 21, 24 and 28 runs respectively. Batsmen following them were dismissed for single digit scores. At the end of 20 overs, the Delhi Daredevils scored 133 runs for all out. The Mumbai Indians won the match by 29 runs and Shaun Pollock was declared the Man of the Match.
